After driving for 4 ½ hours through patchy fog it was an absolute delight to arrive on Skomer in glorious sunshine.

Andy immediately made us feel welcome. His tuition was first class and his love of photography comes across with abundant enthusiasm. Aspects covered ranged from the practical to the technical – how to hold the camera correctly, best way to use the viewfinder, camera settings, composition and much more – and he showed great patience when the ‘mental block’ kept taking over !!!!

Skomer is a treasure. A beautiful island in beautiful surroundings and I thoroughly intended taking photos of scenic views but I guess it was only to be expected that the stars of the show took precedence over everything. The wide angle lens stayed in the bag and the Puffins took centre stage !!!

The puffins were just adorable. The main part of the day was spent at the Wick where Andy worked with individuals to help, support, encourage and generally share his enthusiasm for everything around. It was a fantastic day and I’m looking forward to returning next month.
