I booked onto this course as I am a self-taught, young photographer, so there are many gaps in my knowledge. Also, I had never been to a small island at all, let alone one with thousands of seabirds nesting on it.
I found this course very enjoyable and helpful, with a good balance of information and chances to practice on the colonies of puffins. Andy covered everything from basics like holding a camera (ironing out any bad habits) to understanding the histogram – something which I had no idea how to do before.

We also had a chance to explore the island on foot, giving us the chance to see gannets, choughs, fulmar petrels and even a peregrine. At the end of the day, we got a chance to practice our newfound techniques on nesting seabirds such as guillemots and razorbills.
I very much enjoyed the course and would like to visit Skomer again.
